The Fund has provided grants totaling more than $19 million to 296 organizations since 2000.
The Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation Community Fund celebrated and honored the collective achievements of its grant recipients on May 3, 2012 during its 4th Annual Partners in Philanthropy Luncheon. The event also marked the Community Fund’s eleventh year supporting nonprofit organizations involved in good work in the local region and across the country.
In 2011, the Community Fund Board focused on supporting partners and neighbors in Yolo County and the surrounding areas. Grants were awarded to 77 organizations working in areas ranging from education to veterans, healthcare to Native language revitalization, environment, and many more.
“While we come from different backgrounds, our struggles and our dreams bring us together to support the health and well-being of our families, protect our natural environment, foster education for our children and build better communities for all,” said Marshall McKay, Yocha Dehe Tribal Chairman. “Giving and serving others are core values of our tribal culture and we are honored to stand with you in this work.”
The Yocha Dehe Community Fund was among the first to be established by a Native American tribe in California. Since its inception, the Fund has provided grants totaling more than $19 million to 296 organizations. The Yocha Dehe Community Fund is governed by a Board of Directors, made up of tribal members and supported by government staff.
Consistent with its mission, the Board strives to develop strategic partnerships that will result in long-lasting community impacts. Grants from the Community Fund are offered under six core giving elements.
