In 2011, the Tribe gained more authority to manage our historic and cultural resources when it was conferred a Tribal Historic Preservation Officer by the U.S. Department of the Interior. The current THPO is Secretary James Kinter. This extends our authority to work not only on Yocha Dehe trust land, but throughout our entire aboriginal territoryto protect sensitive sites from disturbance and desecration.

An important case study for Yocha Dehe was the historical Patwin site of Glen Cove on the Carquinez Strait. In partnership with the Cortina Band of Wintun Indians, we negotiated and achieved an arduous victory in protecting Glen Cove, executing a historic government-to-government agreement with the City of Vallejo.
