Yocha Dehe Fire Department has a total of 36 personnel and is led by Fire Chief Rebecca Ramirez. The administration staff consists of an Assistant Chief, Fire Inspector, Administration & Preparedness Manager, Administrative Assistant, and Fire Mechanic. Yocha Dehe line staff operates on a 48×96-hour staffing plan, often called the 2×4 schedule. Three shifts with a minimum of nine personnel work 48 hours on, followed by 96 hours off. Daily, the department’s minimum staffing is one battalion chief, two captains, two engineers, and four firefighters trained to the level of paramedic or EMT. This staffing plan was implemented to support the long commutes that many of our employees experience while reducing the number of trips per day on Highway 16.
