The Woodland High School Football Program and Woodland High School Football Boosters/Hammer Club recently announced a $38,000 grant from the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation Community Fund to purchase 75 new football helmets for WHS student-athletes.
The grant will help replace aging equipment and ensure players have access to safe, reliable helmets. The new helmets will benefit the football program for years to come.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation and the Yocha Dehe Community Fund for their investment in our student-athletes,” a representative of the Woodland High School Football Boosters/Hammer Club stated. “This grant is about much more than purchasing equipment. It demonstrates a commitment to the safety, opportunities, and future of local students. Their generosity will have an impact on our football program for many seasons.”
The WHS football program honored the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation during a special home football game dedication on Friday, Oct. 9, welcoming representatives onto the field and recognizing their support.
The grant will also be acknowledged throughout the season with a banner at WHS Community Stadium, recognition in the football program, announcements during home games, and posts on the program’s social media channels.
“This partnership is a wonderful example of what can happen when community organizations come together to support young people,” the Boosters added. “Our players, coaches, families, and entire football community are extremely thankful.”
The WHS Football Boosters/Hammer Club supports the football program through equipment, resources, fundraising, and opportunities that enhance the student-athlete experience and promote the program’s continued growth.
