BROOKS, CA (October 8, 2019) – To aid farm and livestock operators who will lose access to water during this week’s announced Public Safety Power Outage by Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E), the Yocha Dehe Fire Department (YDFD) will set up a water filling operation at Vernon Nichols Park in Guinda. YDFD firefighters are deploying an emergency industrial pump to help fill containers from Cache Creek to provide water for local animals.
PG&E announced the shutoff – expected to affect customers locally from approximately Madison through Rumsey – to mitigate the threat of wildfire amidst forecast extreme weather conditions, including high winds. The shutoff is expected to begin 1AM Wednesday, October 9 and could continue for up to 5 days. Overall, PG&E indicates 30 northern, central, coastal and Bay Area counties could be affected.
The Cache Creek Casino Resort will remain open during this time, using its own self- generation facilities.
The Yocha Dehe pumping station will be operational from 09:00 to 19:00, starting Wednesday, October 9 and each day between those hours as long as the shutoff continues.
