One of the core goals of the preschool and pre-kindergarten programs at Yocha Dehe Wintun Academy is to provide students with a variety of opportunities to develop their social, emotional, cognitive and physical skills in a responsive and nurturing environment.

In the preschool years, students learn what it means to be part of a team and continue to explore their world through carefully prepared environments. These learning environments transcend the classroom walls, and are rich opportunities for our student’s to question, experiment and apply their critical problem solving skills. Furthermore, our preschooler’s curiosity as well as love for learning is nurtured through a curriculum that is tailored to each student’s individual needs and interests.

During the pre-kindergarten year, students continue to develop a strong foundation across the developmental domains, as well as refine the school readiness skills that will help them reach their full academic potential. The curriculum is primarily guided by our student’s needs and interests and is informed and structured by developmentally appropriate standards. Above all, our pre-k program strives to foster a sense of confidence, creativity, cooperation and initiative that will allow our student’s to thrive in any environment.
