FAIRFIELD — The Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation joined students, families and faculty at  Solano Community College’s Fall Scholarship Awards ceremony to celebrate local  scholars supported through the tribe’s Momhi Scholarship program.

For the 2025–26 school year, 55 Solano College students received Momhi Scholarships  totaling $51,000. Since 2024, the tribe has awarded 79 scholarships to students from

Vallejo through its partnership with the college, continuing its long-term investment in  expanding educational opportunities across the region.

Representatives from the nation and the Doyuti T’uhkama Board, which oversees many  of Yocha Dehe’s philanthropic and education initiatives, attended Tuesday’s event.

“We are proud to honor these students who embody the spirit of ‘momhi,’ which means  learning in the Patwin language. Their achievements reflect the power of education to  strengthen both individuals and communities,” said Anthony Roberts, tribal chairman  of the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation, who also serves as board chairman Doyuti  T’uhkama.

Through its Momhi Scholarship program, the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation supports  students who demonstrate perseverance, leadership and a commitment to giving back.

“The support of Yocha Dehe has made a life-changing difference for our students. Their  investment in higher education continues to open doors and build pathways to success  for Solano County families,” Carolyn Warne, director of the Solano Community College Educational Foundation, said in the press release. For more information, visit yochadehe.gov.
