BROOKS, CA (August 4, 2016) – Governor Jerry Brown and the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation have completed negotiations and signed a new Tribal-State Gaming Compact between the State of California and the Tribe. Following ratification by the State Legislature and posting by the Bureau of Indian Affairs in the Federal Register, the new compact will replace the current compact that was signed in 2004.
Yocha Dehe Tribal Chairman Leland Kinter issued the following statement:
“We would like to thank and commend Governor Jerry Brown and his staff for their diligence in negotiating a new gaming compact between the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation and the State of California. The thorough review of and focus on the compact’s important details and broad impacts, we believe, has produced an agreement that will provide significant benefits for the State of California, our Tribe, and our local community and neighbors for many years to come.”
“We look forward to discussing our new compact with members of the California Legislature in the coming weeks as the State Senate and State Assembly consider ratification.”
